The founder of Gloomy Grim has stated the following: " Problems have existed
for a long time. Working with Mörgöth has been difficult day to day, but recently it has become impossible. This decision wasn't easy, but has
absolutely been the right one. It has cleared the air in a very positive way.
This had to be done, otherwise the band would have been dead, finished. We
didn..t come out of this as friends. The reason was not musical
differences or anything like that. To me, Mörgoth is DEAD!"
Witness the Unlight this summer at the following shows!!!!

Tangaroa are coming, and their fucking up your head!
The congregation of extreme bands formed each year, all hoping to catch the attention of the discerning metalhead, are more often than not ignored in a sea of cliché riffs and tired arrangements. But every now and again, a band stands out amongst the masses. One that turns heads and garners nods of approval.
That band is Tangaroa.
Formed in 1998 in the north of England, they tore their way through several EP releases and it is the time for them to unleash their bastardized form of prog-grind-jazz-metal in the guise of a full length release; One hand for the knife, One hand for the throat.
Coming to you on 09/09/08 'One Hand For The Knife, One Hand For The Throat' takes everything done before, puts it in the barrel of a gun, and blows your face off! The track 'D'ya Hear That Wolf' is now available here with the only description being.. indescribable! One has to listen to this aural madness to at least attempt to define it, let alone understand it. With virtuosity well on display throughout Tangaroa truly match their 'progressive' tag, rather than some to who a few flashy guitar runs is enough.
Tangaroas previous 'creations' have been well received with Kerrang awarding 'Day' a 4/5 review describing the release as a 'Warped musical head-fuck' and 'Unlike anything you've heard before' and this tradition is brought forward to 'One Hand For The Knife, One Hand For The Throat. '
Tangaroa's myspace page (found here) contains the aforementioned new track, as well as artwork preview for 'One Hand For The Knife, One Hand For The Throat'.
Make sure you experience the new tune!

TANGAROA ALBUM RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED!!
Finally...the wait is nearly over! If you were crying over how deliciously short "Day" was, then Tangaroa's first full length album, mastered by WellerHill Productions, "One Hand for the Knife, One Hand for the Throat" will be released through Anticulture Records on September 8th 2008! It will blow your mind! A progressive colossus of a record, it's uncompromising demeanor is beautiful in its construct and trust us, the term crushingly heavy doesn't even come close! Here's what guitarist Baldi had to say!
"When you finally get your hands on this album it will be dripping with blood sweat and tears! We could have given up so many times but the simple fact that we are so proud of what we have achieved on this album kept us going. Tangaroa, bouncing back!!”
Taking their name from a Polynesian sea-god, Tangaroa are a truly unique hybrid of experimental extreme metal and progressive grind. An abhorrent amalgamation of virtuoso technical abilities and incendiary metal riffs that combine a wealth of styles from black metal, grindcore, hardcore and jazz, and push back the boundaries and concepts of song structures, offering a defiant middle finger response to the current wave of tech-metal pretenders to the throne.
"...a warped musical head-fuck that's certainly metal but quite unlike any you've heard before" - Kerrang!
"Drumming that keeps a solid and often unconventional beat, bipolar vocals that scream and growl as hard as they can, disjointed songs in which structures are played with to the extreme, and utterly staggering guitar work" - Edinburgh Metal Scene.

2008-03-27 - Corporation 187 : KERRANG Review!
Posted by:
H.I.M. MEDIA

KKKK
"Band names don't come much worse than Corporation 187. Fortunately for them, Swedish melodic death metal doesn't come much better either. Discarding some of the more traditional approaches to the genre, Newcomers of Sin terrorises and explodes with near perfect execution. Impeccable drumming throughout impresses, but what really steals the show is the infusion of Tool-esque riffs and dynamics to their thrash/death metal blueprint. It's an exhilarating and frequently brutal concoction that gets better with every listen"

2008-02-05 - Corporation 187 Release party & 1st review!

noreply@blogger.com
Release Party for the new Corporation 187 album is March 8th in Linköping (Sweden).
Listen to one new track from "Newcomers of sin" at www.myspace.com/corporation187swe
1st review of the album available from BW&BK Magazine.
"A strange and unexpected brew, this. Almost entirely forgotten thanks to an over-populated scene and a dash of label neglect, Corporation187 have moved to aspirant UK indie Anticulture and produced by far their strongest album to date. Eschewing the overtly Slayer-ized melodic death tones of their first two full-lengths, the Swedes are showing their blackened roots a little more here, cooking up a hybrid assault that has as much in common with latter-day Marduk as it does with Carnal Forge. That means a greater emphasis on slower riffs and layers of menacing discord, with the expected bursts of brutal velocity used sparingly, ensuring maximum impact and devastation. There's even a touch of Enslaved-like anti-riff minimalism on the stately, atmospheric 'Procession'. It all marks a smart evolutionary step for these underdogs. On tracks like the restrained mid-tempo grind of 'Suffer As One', the scattershot dynamics of the title track and the wild and vicious 'Virus Nation', Corporation 187 sound like a band whose time has come."

Well, not only were the locals lucky enough to get to see the show, but Radio 1's very own Roving Rock Reporter, Katie P, joined Malefice for the ride. Last night's Radio 1 Rock show (click here!) included a feature on the gig, the band, the delights of Malta, and what everyone thought of the show (they loved it by the way!) then rounded the whole thing off nicely with a rousing rendition (OK, album version) of 'Risen Through The Ashes'!
It was so good we couldn't not give you all the link to listen again, so here it is! More proof again that UK metal band Malefice not only travel well, but they do it in style and in damn good company.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!
If that whets you appetite then you need not wait long before catching Malefice in the real-and-right-in-front-of-you flesh! December 18th sees that start of the Kerrang! Most Wanted Tour, with Malefice and Darkest Hour! Here's where to catch them:
January 18th - Aberdeen Barfly
January 19th - Glasgow Barfly
January 20th - York Fibbers
January 21st - Birmingham Barfly
January 22nd - Cardiff Barfly
January 23rd - Cambridge Barfly
January 24th - Brighton Barfly
January 25th - Camden Barfly, London
And they don't stop there!! Catch them on these dates for their headline slot with Cinders Fall:
January 30th - Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms
January 31st - Nottingham Rock City
February 7th - Plymouth, The White Rabbit
February 8th - Pontypridd, Toms Bar
February 9th - Swindon, The Furnace
February 15th - Peterborough, The Park
So, there's no excuse to go and see them because they're playing pretty much everything in the next few weeks!!
Visit their Myspace site for more info on the band, the Radio 1 Rock Show to listen again to the Malta special, and here to bag (buy) yourself a CD. It won't leave your stereo, it's THAT good 8)
Until our next rant....
